FAB Fitness & Beauty...for Life! How it Works

During the MS. FAB-U-LESS Challenge, ladies are encouraged to commit to high personal standards of fitness and beauty, supplemented with group meetings, fitness activities, buddy system, emotional support and community involvement.  

Bi-weekly FAB Weigh-ins and Meetings provide support and accountability, as well an excellent opportunity for Members to come together in friendship, sharing of ideas and experiences, with the additional benefit of being engaged and exposed to Presentations from professionals in the fitness and beauty industry.  Past FAB members confirm that the emotional support in the all-female environment plays a vital role in their chances for success.  FAB Members have collectively lost over 200 pounds to date. What is The Eat-Clean Diet®?
In April 2012, The Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno was endorsed as the FAB Nutritional Programme.

MEETINGS

FAB Membership Meetings are held on a bi-weekly basis.  Currently meetings are held on bi-weekly Saturdays at 5:00 pm (for approximately one-hour) at the FAB Studio, Trafalgar Place.  Leaders, Members and Special Guest Speakers participate in Meetings on a variety of FAB –related topics

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Mental Awareness

Diet & Nutrition

  • Your diet (nutrition) amounts to approximately 50% of you losing weight – so it is also critical that you get your diet right!   

  • You have to eat to lose weight – but ensure you eat the right quality and quantity of food every 2 -3 hours apart, including lots of fruit and vegetables. 

  • Ideally, eliminate anything ‘white’ from your diet ie. white bread, sugar, rice and potatoes.  Instead, have whole wheat bread, brown rice and sweet potatoes. 

  • Prepare food in bulk where possible ie. enough oatmeal for breakfast for a week!

  • Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day! Build up to this slowly and find a way that will help you in doing so ie. buy a pretty water bottle, drink from a straw

  • Take a woman’s daily multi-vitamin

  • Complete your Food Journal as this allows you to see what, when and how much you are really eating, plus it earns you reward points!

Fitness
The other approximate 25% in the weight-loss equation is fitness/exercise!   So get moving, commit to a minimum of 3-days per week for at least 30-minutes.  Challenge yourself and just get started!  Engage in a particular activity that you enjoy ie. yoga, pilates, spinning etc.  Most fitness facilities offer a complimentary class or special discounted rate just for FAB if there are sufficient numbers.  Useful tips:

  • Find a reliable work-out buddy

  • Find an activity that you enjoy - there is more of chance you will actually do it

  • Take your work-out clothes out from the night before

  • Have good pair of walking/running shoes

  • Be consistent with exercise – remember once you do something over and over it because habitual – and you actually miss it when you don’t do it.  Try thinking of exercise like brushing your teeth – it’s something you have to do everyday!

FAB also offers a Week-end 5K (3+ miles) Walking Group on Saturday, Sunday or Public Holidays at Safe Haven, South Sound, Beach Bay starting at 6:00/6:30 am, or as decided by the FAB Membership. Additionally, workout classes can be held at the FAB Studio as per Membership demand.

FAB OUTREACH

This is an important component of FAB, and amplifies the belief in ‘paying-it-forward’, particularly in the community.  The FAB Leadership Team welcomes ideas of ways to get involved in worthwhile community initiatives.  As a FAB Member you must commit to at least ONE FAB Outreach cause per 12-week session.

FAB Discount Cards are usually distributed after the first FAB meeting, subject to Membership fees being paid.  Cards must be shown at each respective business in order to receive a discount.  The current list of FAB Discount Providers is outlines below.  Other businesses continue to be added to this list.
